The funny footage shows the macaque monkey staring at the screen and scrolling with its finger like a teenager.
The monkey swiped the mobile from a girl taking a photo at a zoo.
But rather than smashing – or trying to eat – the device, the monkey seems to know exactly how to use it.
One amused onlooker says: “I think she’s just scrolling Facebook.”
The clip was filmed in the city of Brasov in central Romania’s Brasov County.
The woman needed help from zoo keepers to recover her phone as the monkey took it high up in its cage.
Voices can be heard saying on the recording: “So a monkey from Brasov zoo stole the phone of a visitor.
“I hope she won’t steal mine”
Thomas Dobircianu – who uploaded the clip to the internet – who said: “The macaque really made a monkey out of the woman.”
