A London woman became the proud owner of the UK’s most expensive number plate after she paid £233,000 for the registration KR15 HNA.

The number plate, which shows the name of a Hindu deity, shot up in price from its original starting bid of £27,000 at an auction at the Casa Hotel in Chesterfield.

And the registration smashed previous record-breaking plate MR51 NGH, which was bought for £100,000.
